Claudia Sloan is a Latina Artist who creates high-spirited, whimsical art and children's books covering topics from wellness, Latinx culture, life adventures, and STEAM.
Short Bio:
Claudia Sloan is a former Software Engineer turned "creativepreneur". She is a self-taught artist and author. Her artwork is usually described by others as “whimsical” and often features animals and fairies. It has been shown and sold in local galleries and art shows in California and Arizona. Claudia is particularly interested in inspiring and spreading positivity through her creative work. Most recently, she created the picture book "Grey Ghost Mischief: Grub a la Grande" with hopes to help all children develop a positive relationship with food early in life. It was published in 2021 in English and Spanish.
Claudia grew up in Mexico and immigrated to the USA. She splits her time living in Silicon Valley (California) and the Valley of the Sun (Arizona). When not doing creative work, Claudia likes to read, run, cycle or hike. She also practices yoga and loves movies and animation - specially her Sunday cartoons! She also cooks healthy-tasty foods and creates magic potions from nature.

Claudia Sloan is a former Software Engineer turned "creativepreneur". She is a self-taught artist and author. Her artwork is usually described by others as “whimsical” and often features animals and fairies. It has been shown and sold in local galleries and art shows in California and Arizona. She likes to evoke happy thoughts and is particularly interested in inspiring and spreading positivity.
In her literary work, Claudia aims to help increase quantity and access to good quality bilingual and Spanish language children’s literature. She also hopes to inspire future generations to explore STEAM fields and live holistically healthier. Most recently, Claudia created the picture book "Grey Ghost Mischief: Grub a la Grande" with hopes to help all children develop a positive relationship with food early in life. It was published in 2021 in English and Spanish. In 2010, Claudia translated into Spanish the picture book “The Smoke Wizard” written by Karen Lewis, MD, and illustrated by Andrea Darais. In 2016, she translated and illustrated the bilingual picture book “Ginger Dog or Ginger Bear?” written by Rodgers Wilson, MD. In 2021, Claudia illustrated “Alpaca in the Back’a my Car!” written by professional juggler Ben Farber. In the children's literature community, Claudia is an active member of SCBWI in Arizona and California and 12x12. She's also a 2023-2024 Fellow of The Writing Barn's CtC program and a yearly Storystorm participant. Most recently, Claudia received an Honorable Mention at the 13th Annual Halloweensie Contest in Oct. 2023.
Prior to becoming an entrepreneur, Claudia held senior leadership positions in the public sector leveraging technology for health communications and marketing. She led health education and promotion programs and a variety of wellness projects to improve the well being of her community. Claudia has taught various graduate-level courses and has worked in non-profits and start-ups. Early in her career, Claudia did graphic and web design and became a software engineer specializing in user interfaces. She has college degrees in Graphic Design, Computer Science and a Master’s in Business Administration. Claudia has also served on multiple non-profit boards including the Alliance of Technology and Women, the National Society of Hispanic MBAs, and most recently she served as President for the award-winning Prospanica Silicon Valley chapter and continues to serve in the role of President Emeritus today.

Claudia Sloan es una Artista Latina y emprendedora creativa con un perfil de Ingenieria. Su estilo de arte es describido por la gente como "pintoresco y fantasioso" por el uso frecuente de animales y hadas. Sus obras de arte han sido exhibidas y vendidas en galerías y ferias de arte locales en California y Arizona. Ella se empeña en evocar pensamientos alegres y en inspirar y propagar la positividad.
Con sus obras literarias, Claudia tiene como objetivo aumentar la cantidad, calidad y el acceso a la literatura infantil bilingüe y en Español. Mantiene la esperanza de inspirar generaciones a explorar el ámbito de STEAM y también a vivir holísticamente más saludable. Recientemente, Claudia escribió e ilustró el libro en Español "Travesuras de Grey Ghost", el cual también fué publicado en Inglés y existe en version bilingüe (la cual aún no ha sido publicada). Su meta con este libro es ayudar a todos los niños a desarrollar desde temprana edad, una relación positiva con la comida. En el 2010, Claudia hizo la traducción a Español del libro "The Smoke Wizard", escrito por Karen Lewis, MD, e ilustrado por Andrea Darais. En le 2016, Claudia tradujo al Español y tambien ilustró el libro bilingüe “Ginger Dog or Ginger Bear?”, escrito por Rodgers Wilson, MD. En el 2021, Claudia ilustró el libro "Alpaca in the Back'a my Car!", escrito por el malabarista profesional Ben Farber.
Antes de convertirse en emprendedora, Claudia se desempeñó exitosamente en puestos de liderazgo ejecutivo en el sector público, anfitriona del uso de tecnología para comunicaciones y mercadotecnia. Claudia encabezó varios programas educativos, campañas promocionales, y proyectos especiales para mejorar el bienestar de su comunidad. En el curso de su carrera, Claudia también ha ocupado puestos en universidades, empresas grandes y pequeñas y organizaciones sin ánimo de lucro. Claudia empezó su carrera en diseño gráfico y de red y luego se convirtió en Ingeniera especializada en interfaces de usuario. Su educación consiste de post grados en Diseño Gráfico, Ingenieria en Computación, y Maestría en Administración de Empresas. Claudia ha prestado su servicio a varias mesas directivas incluyendo la Alianza de Tecnología y la Mujer, la Sociedad Nacional de Hispanos MBAs, y mas recientemente, como Presidente para Prospanica Silicon Valley donde hoy continua en la función de Presidente Emeritus.
Claudia creció en México pero ha vivido en Estados Unidos la mayor parte de su vida. Ahora divide su tiempo viviendo en el Valle del Silicon (California) y el Valle del Sol (Arizona). Cuando no esta trabajando en algún proyecto creativo, a Claudia le gusta leer, correr, bicicletear, ir de caminata a convivir con la naturaleza, practicar yoga, jugar con algún nuevo artilugio o videojuego y ver películas regulares y animadas - no se pierde sus caricaturas del Domingo! Claudia también cocina comida sabrosa y saludable e inventa pociones naturales mágicas.
